Laundry Fairy

I'm in desperate need for a laundry fairy. One who will flip all socks outside in, inspect all articles to determine if they need to be pretreated and actually treat them, dry them without shrinking them a size and then neatly fold and hang them in their respective closets. Is this too much to ask for?

I'm going to come out and and say it, I suck at laundry. I usually blame the washing machine but I'm sure I'm the real culprit in this never ending battle of stains, holes and shrinkage. As I was putting Vivian's clothes away today I found holes in two shirts. One of them in the middle of the shirt. How do you get a hole in the middle of the shirt?
Olivia looks like she has been shot.
This shirt looks like it had a battle with some scissors and lost. These aren't just cheap shirts. These are Gymboree $20 shirts. How does this happen?

Then there is the stain demon. I try to inspect all clothes before they go into the washer but I miss a few (or more) every now and again. I'm tempted to ban Viv from eating spaghetti sauce. The problem with long sleeve shirts is they attract even more stains than the shirt itself. Last night I let Viv drink some of my protein shake and before I could stop her she cleaned her face with her sleeve. Who needs napkins when they are built right into your clothes?
This shirt was cute until it was attacked by Ragu.

If Vivian is this messy with her clothes what will Easton do to his? Do they make wear and toss clothes?

Sleepless in Dallas

Just when you think you have your kids on schedule they decide it's time for a change. It has been two weeks now of interrupted sleep at the Mitchell home.  Easton is constantly battling his appetite.  He won't consume more than 5oz at a time but wants to eat every 3 hours.  I thought maybe adding some oatmeal to his diet would help fill his tummy so he could go longer periods of time (ie. at night) but that does not seem to be working.  Instead he just wakes up with the most blood curdling cry in the middle night wanting to be fed.  And I wouldn't say it's the middle of the night, it's more like 3-4am.  Just an hour or two before Spencer and I wake up.  Being deprived of that extra hour a day is wrecking havoc on my mood and appearance.  I understand why mothers age so much faster than other women.  Lack of sleep, stress and screaming does a number on your body.

Two weeks ago, since I thought I had sleep under control, I decided we would start night training Vivian and stopped putting diapers on her.  She has since been waking up between 12-1am because she has wet her bed.  It doesn't seem to matter if I withhold fluids from her an hour or two before bed or if she evens pees on the pot, she still manages to soak her sheets.  Two nights ago I decided we are not ready for this and put a pull up back on her.  I can't be washing her sheets everyday being that we are gone from the house from 7am-6pm.  I now have a pile of clothes in the laundry room waiting for an opportunity to be cleaned. It's also not helping that Spencer hasn't been getting home until 8 or 9pm. I'm still not sure if I'm mad or jealous about that one.

Sorry if this sounds like I'm complaining but I am. I love my kids but I miss my sleep and sanity.  If you see me passed out on a park bench or face down at a restaurant in a bowl of soup just smile and walk on because if you wake me I'm likely to hurt you. :)

4 months for E

Easton will be 4 months on Sunday so we had his appointment yesterday.  He is growing like crazy.  I'm about ready to give up on carrying him around in his car seat because it's breaking my back.

Current stats:
Height: 26" (77%)
Weight: 16.13lbs (85%)
Head:17" (??)

Easton is such a sweet baby. He is always smiling and cooing. He is absolutely fascinated with Vivian.  Everything she does or says grabs his attention.  He is a pretty good sleeper but I think he is still waking up so early because he is so hungry.  He goes to bed at 9 and wakes up at 4:30 to eat but sleeps while he eats. He then jumps right back into a slumber until 6 or 7.  I'm going to start him on oatmeal tomorrow hoping this will help him sleep longer until 6 or 7 and eliminate this early morning feeding.  Although I don't know why it bothers me since Spencer or I are up at that time anyway to go work out (yes, I'm insane).

After his shots yesterday he became very irritable and cried for most of the day. By the evening he had a fever and was just fussy unless I was holding him. He is still pretty fussy today so I'm hoping by tomorrow he is back to his old self.

Compliments of uncle G
Such a good baby

Christmas morning

Here is the video of her Christmas morning ignoring her stocking.

Tis the Season

I can't believe it's already 2014.  2013 flew by so fast.  We had a great ending to our year.  We spent the weekend before Christmas at the ranch celebrating with Spencer's family. Vivian had so much fun opening gifts to the point she stopped looking at what each gift was and just wanted to tear paper.

We then shared Christmas with my parents on Christmas Eve.  She once again enjoyed opening presents.  We then said goodbye to Red as he was heading to the northpole to start making toys for next year and off to bed she went dreaming of sugar plum fairies.

The next morning she didn't quite grasp the whole concept of Santa, her stocking, etc.  When she finally came back to the living room and saw her stocking she was so excited because Santa brought her a Mermaid doll.  The Little Mermaid has become her favorite character and wants to watch the movie everyday.  Easton is going to know the movie line for line.  One of her favorite gifts was her jewelry box from my aunt and uncle.  Everyday when she gets home from school she goes to her room and opens her jewelry box to watch the horse twirl around.

I told her we needed to dress up for Christmas Eve and she chose her Minnie Mouse dress.
Loves her mermaid and jewelry box
At Ganmas playing with her princess castle
Easton just enjoyed being held and loved on.-
